This article describes the supportability for Microsoft Lync 2010 clients on Windows 8 client systems, and for Microsoft Lync Server 2010 server roles on a server that has the Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system installed. However, the following scenarios are currently not supported on a Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system:

  • Upgrading the operating system to Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2 for an existing installation of Lync Server 2010 is not supported.
  • Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Group Chat Server is not supported on Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2.
